As the world becomes more aware of the gender gap and the need for diversity in the workplace, it is crucial to support young women early in their careers. In the final video of our interview series with Founder and CEO of exaqueo, Susan LaMotte, and Christina Lock, Founder and CEO of Catch Talent, these two women leaders share pieces of advice for young women early in their careers. In this interview, they vocalize that it’s okay to make waves, whether you are the loudest person in the room or if you prefer to work behind the scenes.
“It’s easy to sit back in a corner and not speak up about things within your first job or your first few jobs. You’re sort of meant to be seen, but maybe not heard. I pushed all that to the side and maybe made a little bit of waves, but it’s okay to make waves. I think, if you look at the history of women and those that are now in the history books, they may have made some waves along the way. I think every entrepreneur maybe shares that a bit to where they have this idea and they are outspoken about it and they’re passionate about it. So not being afraid to voice your opinions and also stand for what you believe in.”
Christina Lock, Founder and CEO of Catch Talent
“Standing for what you believe in is so important. I think it’s really easy sometimes to be dismissed, right? And to sit back if someone doesn't believe in your idea. That doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be vocal in a meeting. It means that you have to be thoughtful and strategic. And I think that’s the piece of advice I would give to young women. Find who you are and be authentic. And then be smart and strategic about how you use that authenticity.”
